IoT Sensors: real-time intelligence from every block

Real-time intelligence from every block.

From the soil to your screen, in real time.

An integrated network of soil moisture probes, weather stations, canopy sensors, sap flow monitors and solar radiation sensors continuously measures the conditions that drive vine health, fruit quality and disease risk.

Every reading streams to the Aura AI platform, where the data becomes block-level alerts, soil intelligence and seasonal context tuned to your terroir.

How the sensor network works

  • Strategic placement.

Sensors are positioned across your vineyard (and, where useful, across neighbouring partner vineyards) to create a continuous data stream that feeds the Aura AI platform. Installation is handled by our team, with careful attention to your terrain.

  • Built for the vineyard.

Solar-powered with battery backup, our sensors run continuously with virtually no maintenance, and are built for the toughest outdoor conditions.

  • Always connected.

Cellular connectivity streams every reading directly to the cloud, delivering reliable insight even from the most remote corners of your estate.

Sensors

The continuous data layer beneath every Aurelia recommendation.

  • Soil moisture probes

Multi-depth monitoring up to 120 centimetres. Real-time water availability, irrigation optimisation, drainage issue identification, and historical moisture pattern analysis.

  • Weather stations

Hyperlocal temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall measurement, frost risk prediction with automated alerts, and growing degree day calculations.

  • Canopy microclimate sensors

In-canopy temperature, humidity within the vine canopy, leaf wetness duration, disease risk modelling, and spray timing optimisation.

  • Sap flow sensors

Direct plant water stress monitoring, transpiration rate tracking, early detection of vine stress, water-use efficiency analysis, and comparison across varieties and blocks.

  • Solar radiation sensors

Light interception measurement, ripening forecasts, canopy management guidance, sunburn risk assessment, and site-specific vineyard planning insights.

Benefits

  • Data-driven decisions

Replace guesswork with precise measurements to optimise irrigation, spraying and harvest timing.

  • Early warning

Receive alerts about potential issues before they become visible problems.

  • Resource optimisation

Reduce water use, minimise chemical applications, and lower labour costs through targeted interventions.

  • Regional intelligence

Benefit from anonymised data across neighbouring partner vineyards, when each contributes.

  • Historical analysis

Build a comprehensive dataset over time to identify patterns and optimise long-term vineyard management.

  • Climate adaptation

Adjust practices based on real-time climate signals to maintain quality and yield as conditions shift.

Frequently asked questions

  • How many sensors will my vineyard need?

It depends on size, varietal mix, terrain variability and your priorities. As a guide, a 30 to 50 hectare estate typically starts with 8 to 15 sensor stations, scaling from there.

  • Who installs and maintains the sensors?

Our team installs every sensor and handles ongoing maintenance. The network is solar-powered with battery backup; in normal operation, you will not need to do anything.

  • What happens to my vineyard data?

Your raw data is yours. Aggregated, anonymised data may be used to improve the Aura AI models that benefit every partner. We never share identifiable vineyard data without your explicit permission. Full detail is in our data policy.
